High Adventure Encouragement Program
In an effort to encourage members of Illini Lodge to take advantage of the High Adventure/Service Programs offered at the three BSA High Adventure Bases, Illini Lodge has developed the Encouragement Program. The OA High Adventure programs include
- Canadian Odyssey at Northern Tier - Quetico Provence in Canada
- Wilderness Voyage at Northern Tier - Charles L Sommers Canoe Base
- Trail Crew at Philmont Scout Ranch
- Ocean Adventure at Florida Sea base
Illini Lodge believes that having its members attend these experiences is beneficial for both the lodge member and the lodge as a whole. Therefore the lodge has started a yearly scholarship of $300 to encourage youth members to attend these activites.
The sum of $300 is awarded every year to the scouts or scouts chosen by the Lodge Chief, the Lodge Staff Advisor, and the Lodge Advisor. This money will be split evenly between 3 selected applicants. If only two applicants apply, money will be split evenly between the two. If there is one applicant, the sum of money is awarded to that applicant.
The requirements for applying for the scholarship are:
- Illini Lodge member of good standing (dues paid, behavior, etc.)
- Meet eligibility requirements for the adventure that is being applied for
- Complete application form and return to the Scout Office
